Anne, Sharon and Kerrie take the ultimate leap for the Joe Glover Trust
On Saturday 25th July Senior Dental Nurse Anne Scholey, Practice Manager Sharon Nanson and Reception Manager Kerrie New will be jumping out of a plane in aid of the children’s cancer charity Joe Glover Trust.
Anne, Sharon and Kerrie will each be doing a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet over Salisbury, Wiltshire with Go Skydive. The day has been organised to raise money for the Joe Glover Trust, which was set up in 2007 by the parents of eight-year-old Joe Glover after he lost his battle to the rare childhood cancer, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a few years ago.
The charity is close to our hearts here at the practice - Clare’s son Andrew suffered from Leukaemia 10 years ago and was on the same children’s cancer ward as Joe – The Piam Brown Ward in Southampton General Hospital. Andrew is now fully recovered but we still raise money for Piam Brown. All children living in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex will receive treatment at Piam Brown, the specialist children’s cancer unit.
A couple of years ago Clare and Sharon competed in the Great South Run for the Piam Brown unit – according to them this was quite an achievement as neither of them are runners and Sharon hadn’t done any since 1974, when she used to have to run for the school bus!!
